ETBFSI reports 93-basis-point fresh-loan transmission during a 125-basis-point easing cycle

ETBFSI, citing RBI’s October Bulletin, reports that the weighted average rate on fresh bank lending fell 93 basis points during the cumulative 125-basis-point repo-rate reduction from February 2025 to March 2026. The study separates an 80-basis-point rate effect from a 13-basis-point composition effect. This is analysis of an earlier study period, not a new rate decision, a uniform change to every borrower’s contract or a bank-offered NRE, NRO or FCNR(B) deposit rate.

Public ETBFSI report published 24 October and read 25 October. The figures and study attribution are preserved; the report notes that Bulletin article views belong to the authors. Individual loan or deposit pricing was not audited or inferred.

ETBFSI reports FCNR(B) inflows helped ease banks’ deposit costs

ETBFSI attributes to RBI’s October Bulletin a sharp increase in outstanding FCNR(B) deposits and says the related swap facility added surplus liquidity and eased banks’ funding costs. This describes reported system liquidity and deposit mobilisation, not a new FCNR(B) rule, a bank-offered customer rate or a guarantee that deposit pricing will fall.

Public report published late on 23 October and read 24 October. The highlight preserves the publisher’s attribution; underlying bank product rates and the Bulletin calculations were not independently audited.

Sources checked . Bounded public-source review on 28 October. Two additions: RBI’s official 27 October conference release on state fiscal management, and ETBFSI’s 27 October rupee-market report. The RBI item records institutional priorities, not an implemented state outcome; the ETBFSI item is attributed reporting, not proof of RBI intervention, a guaranteed exchange-rate path or personal transaction advice. The 27 October FT employment-data preview remains reporting about a proposal, not an enacted methodology. RBI, UN DESA, World Bank, WEF, ETBFSI, the FT India-economy index and the WSJ economy index were rechecked. Older institutional reports remain visibly dated background. FT and WSJ subscriber text was not accessed. Existing item checks remain individual. Reporting, analysis, institutional data, opinion and conditional forecasts are distinct. No full article, subscriber-only text or article photograph was republished. The requested ‘Indian economic forum’ still needs the owner’s exact URL.

Sources, selection and update method

The daily portal update checks these publishers for relevant public releases and articles. Dates are retained as published; a date given only as a month is not assigned an invented day. Older reports are marked as background. Scheduled checks can fail, so the last verified selection remains visible until a new check succeeds.

Highlights are brief original summaries. Full articles, article photographs and subscription content are not republished. Publisher logos identify the linked sources; no affiliation or endorsement is implied. Public-preview and source-index limits are stated on individual cards. Forecasts are conditional; commentary does not change Indian law or calculator formulas.
