How to read this result
- Compare the money left after estimated tax and fees, rather than just the advertised interest rate.
- Tax already withheld may differ from the final tax due. Inflation and exchange rates also change what your money can buy.
- Check account eligibility and early-withdrawal rules with your bank. NRE tax benefits depend on meeting the rules.
Calculation details and sources
NRE interest exemption depends on FEMA / RBI conditions. RNOR income-tax status alone does not preserve an NRE account or its exemption after a permanent return.
NRO interest is taxable. Withholding may differ from final Indian tax and treaty relief may need documentation. Enter a confirmed all-in rate; no universal 10% resident TDS shortcut is used.
The gross quoted maturity is a reference. The after-tax model settles tax annually during compounding and at a final partial-year exit. Optional monthly or quarterly payouts accumulate after-tax cash separately. Actual bank day-count and withholding timing can differ.
Foreign tax is the additional effective burden after any permitted home-country credit. Do not enter gross foreign tax again if it is already relieved.
Premature withdrawal, minimum tenor, renewal, joint accounts, deposit insurance aggregation and transfer fees require product-specific review. Rates, exchange rates and inflation are user assumptions.
