How to use this information

Version 13 · Effective 14 October 2026 · Independent informational portal

Read the scope, responsibilities and rights that apply.

01Informational purpose only

NRIdisha is an independent educational and informational portal for people with connections to India. All articles, summaries, alerts, charts, examples, forms, checklists, search results, country pages, calculators and newsletters are general information only. They are not a substitute for the original law, an official determination or advice based on your complete circumstances.

02No professional advice or representation

Ask NRIdisha provides automated general information only. Interacting with it does not create a professional-client relationship. Nothing on this portal constitutes individual legal, tax, investment, financial-planning, accounting, banking, immigration, citizenship, medical or other regulated professional advice. The portal does not act as your chartered accountant, lawyer, financial adviser, doctor, agent or representative. Browsing, registering, receiving a newsletter, entering figures or contacting the owner does not create a professional-client, fiduciary, advisory or agency relationship. No professional review or approval is implied unless a particular page expressly identifies it.

03Verify before taking or postponing action

You are responsible for independently confirming the current rule, applicable tax year, jurisdiction, deadlines, amounts, eligibility, documents and procedures with the relevant government department, regulator, bank or other issuing authority. Obtain advice from a suitably qualified CA, lawyer or other appropriate professional in India and, where relevant, your country of residence before acting or deciding not to act. Do not rely on this portal as the sole basis for a transaction, tax return, pension withdrawal, remittance, property decision, will, treatment or legal filing.

04Your individual circumstances can change the answer

Tax residence, FEMA residence, citizenship, domicile and treaty residence are different concepts. State and municipal rules, personal law, ownership history, source and timing of income, previous elections and individual documents may change the result. A selected country or state, a completed checklist or a favourable calculation does not establish compliance, ownership, eligibility, tax status, citizenship, investment suitability or a right to receive or transfer money.

05Errors, omissions and changing information

We aim to provide useful information with identifiable sources, but content may contain mistakes, incomplete explanations, transcription or translation errors, outdated rates, broken links or omitted exceptions. Summaries may be prepared with automated assistance. Official material itself may be amended, superseded, disputed or interpreted differently. A source-check date records a check of the stated material; it is not a guarantee that every amendment, court decision or local instruction was found. Scheduled checks and publication can fail or be delayed.

06Calculators and illustrations

Calculators produce conditional estimates from the inputs, assumptions and supported cases stated on their pages. They do not verify your records or determine the correct treaty, tax treatment or legal classification. Results may exclude charges, taxes, exchange-rate conventions, inflation differences, investment risk, vesting rules, exceptions or future law changes. Withholding is not necessarily final tax; a pension’s foreign tax treatment does not establish its Indian treatment. Examples are illustrative, forecasts are uncertain and past data do not promise future results. Independently reconcile any result before using it.

07Official links, forms and third parties

A link, photograph, logo, form preview or reference does not imply government affiliation, authorisation, endorsement or a recommendation of a provider. The issuing authority controls the current form, filing process and legal requirements. Previewing a form is not submitting it. Third-party websites and professionals control their own content, fees, security, availability, decisions and services; any arrangement you make with them is separate from this portal.

08Responsibility and limitation of liability

You decide whether and how to use the information and remain responsible for your inputs, verification and actions. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the portal and its owners, operators, authors and contributors disclaim liability for losses, damages, costs or claims arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on its content, tools, links or communications, including errors, omissions, outdated information and calculation limitations. This includes, where lawfully excludable, investment or currency losses, lost income or savings, tax, interest, penalties, missed deadlines, data loss, business interruption and indirect or consequential loss. This limitation is subject to the non-excludable rights below and is not a representation that all liability can be avoided.

09Rights that remain protected

Nothing in these terms or notices excludes, restricts or waives any liability, remedy, duty or statutory right that applicable law does not permit to be excluded, restricted or waived. In particular, these provisions do not purport to excuse fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or other conduct for which liability cannot lawfully be limited.

10Urgent situations and corrections

This portal is not monitored as an emergency, medical, safeguarding, fraud-reporting or deadline-management service and cannot dispatch help. Contact the relevant emergency service, bank, authority or qualified professional directly without waiting for a response here. To report a content concern, identify the page, exact statement, source URL and relevant date by email to support@nridisha.com. Do not send identity documents, account credentials or sensitive case records.
