Request information from a central public authority

RTI Online supports RTI applications and first appeals to listed central ministries, departments and public authorities by Indian citizens. The portal explicitly excludes state-government authorities.

How to use this source

  1. Identify the authority holding the information and confirm that it is listed on this central portal.
  2. For a state or local authority, use that authority’s applicable RTI route instead.
  3. Keep the application registration and use the portal’s status or first-appeal function as applicable.

Scope and limits. An RTI request seeks information; it is not the same as a service-delivery grievance. Living overseas does not by itself establish Indian citizenship.
